CA0309 Classical Seated bronze of Hannibal
Rare and interesting 19th century patinated bronze of a heroic resting classical warrior, probably the Cartheginian General Hannibal. Depicted seated on a rocky outcrop in contemplation dressed in classical armour with his sword in his hand and his shield with a roaring lion design at his side. In the manner of the Belgium artist Auguste De Wever 1836-1910. Presented on beautifully figured Sienna marble block base shaped to match the bronze. Nice quality bronze, circa 1890.
