CA0349 Fine pair of French Empire 'Retour d'Egypte' candlesticks

Fine pair of 19th century French Empire style ‘Retour d’Egypte’ figural gilt ormolu and patinated bronze candlesticks. Substantial looking examples with beautifully cast Egyptian caryatid figures surmounted by Egyptian style urn candle cups and standing on circular ormolu bases decorated with classical designs. Adapted for electricity at some point and retaining later central rods they have been completely returned to candlesticks with no obvious signs of electrification. France, circa 1840.
