CA0357 Rare pair of 19th Century Phrygian Equestrian Warriors

Rare dramatic pair of 19th century Grand Tour French patinated bronze mythological Phrygian equestrian warriors with spears raised to strike. Allies of the Trojans they fought against the Greeks in the Trojan War. Beautifully modelled with a real sense of power and energy. Wearing their typical classical Phrygian helmets that were adopted widely across the Greek world and later as a symbol of the Revolution in 18th century France. Mounted on later substantial green marble block bases. France, circa 1830.
