Rare pair 18thC Wax plaques of Antinous and the Satyr Marsyas attributed to Lochée

Fascinating pair of late 18th century Grand Tour wax relief plaques of the Antinous Belvedere and the Satyr Marsyas playing the flute attributed to John Charles Lochée. Active between 1772-1791 Lochée was born in 1751; joined the Royal Academy in 1772; worked alongside Josiah Wedgwood in 1774; Society of Arts winner in 1775 and Royal Sculptor in the 1780's. Presented on what would seem to be original velvet backgrounds in ebonised turned oval frames. Original glass fronts. Very old annotations to the reverse. Very rare and beautiful Grand Tour renditions of statues in Rome. English, circa 1775.
