Fine Empire period bronze of Odysseus
Fine quality, large French Empire period ormolu bronze library figure of a seated Odysseus with a spear. Superbly modelled, cast and chased bronze of a resting Odysseus on a Sienna marble base. Identical figure to those seen on fine Empire clocks of the period, see Tardy’s 'La Pendule Française', which shows an example in the Victoria & Albert Museum collection of French clocks. Good stand alone example of this figure. French, probably Paris, circa 1815.
