CA0417 Marble Bust of the Young Hermes signed Corio
Interesting late 19th or early 20th century French white marble bust of a smiling young Hermes the future 'messenger of Olympus' with his winged helmet. Signed to the neck 'A Corio' the sculpture of the relief plaque of Frederic Ozanam (1813-1853) at the Church of Saint-Etienne-du-Mont in Paris and founder of the charitable Society Saint-Vincent de Paul in 1833. Fascinating bust, classically inspired, mounted on a later white marble block with a black marble base.
