CA0426 Pair of Small Grand Tour Bronze Capitoline Lions

Attractive pair of 19th century Grand Tour patinated bronze Egyptian lions in the manner of the Capitoline Lions bought to Rome during the reign of Domitian and placed at the base of the steps leading up to the famous square in 1562 and converted to fountains in 1588. Nice quality even brown patina to the lions, presented on later green marble block bases. Italian, circa 1870.
