CA0452 Grand Tour bust of the Drunken Satyr
Very rare, expressive and dramatic 19th century Italian, probably Neapolitan, Grand Tour patinated bronze of the Drunken Satyr, after the antique. This unusual, well modelled and cast portrait is a bust version of the famous full length bronze original excavated at the Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum in 1754 and now on permanent display in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Set on a patinated bronze socle and a lovely Marmo Rosso classical stand.
