CA0519 19th Century bronze of a Young Woman Plucking Rose Petals by Aimé Millet
Charming, fine quality 19th century patinated bronze statue of 'La Jeunesse Effeuillant des Roses' or a Young Woman Plucking Rose Petals by the French artist Aimé Millet 1819-1891. The classical maiden in a flowing period dress holds flowers by her side from which she plucks petals to scatter on the ground. Aimé Millet studied with David d'Angers at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and was awarded the Legion d'Honneur in 1859. He was appointed professor at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in 1870. This beautiful bronze stands on an intergral gilt bronze block base signed to the side 'Aimé Millet'. France, probably Paris, circa 1865.
