CA0522 Very Rare Grand Tour bronze of Aristotle
Very rare, large, late 19th century Italian Grand Tour patinated bronze of the Greek philosopher Aristotle, tutor to Alexander the Great, in a seated contemplative pose, wrapped in a robe. Unsigned rare copy of the original Hellenistic statue that stands in the Palazzo Spada in Rome. Typical Roman green black patination to the bronze and a canted Marmo Rosso Levanto and Belgium Black marble base often seen on bronzes by Boschetti. Rome, circa 1880.
