CA0555 19th Century French Empire style hand mirror

Elaborate, good quality 19th century French Empire style gilt bronze ormolu hand held mirror with classically inspired decorative motifs typical of the Empire period. Topped with an imperial eagle with oak leaves and thunderbolts seated on an elaborate bow with classical garlands. Original mercury backed mirror framed by classical oak leaf designs. Delicate open work handle with a victor's laurel, ribbons, leaf motifs and another imperial eagle. Paris, probably Palais Royal, Napoleon III period, circa 1870.
