French Empire Borne style mantel clock by Stiennon
Interesting early 19th century French Empire period black patinated and gilt bronze mounted thin bronze, or tole, borne shaped clock. Lightweight thin sheet bronze or tin case with a frieze of putti playing and a central classical design inspired mount. White enamel dial signed 'Stiennon à Paris' who according to Tardy worked out of Rue Montmorency in 1820 and Baillie references as working between 1812-1825. Fine early Empire style hands. Twelve gilt bronze stars around the bezel and winged 'Staff of Hermes' caduceus mounts to the side. French, circa 1815.
