Grand Tour bronze of Perseus Triumphant after Canova
Rare Italian mid 19th century Grand Tour rich dark brown patinated library bronze of 'Perseus Triumphant' after Antonio Canova (1757-1822). Fine quality, well modelled, cast and chased bronze. Presented on a possibly later oval Siena marble base. The original marble version of this bronze was produced in 1800 and is now displayed in the Octagonal Court in the Vatican Museums in Rome. Good size, rare piece of Grand Tour. Italy, circa 1850.
