CA0580 Large Grand Tour patinated bronze of Narcissus
Good example of a large late 19th century Grand Tour patinated library bronze of Narcissus (Dionysus) after the antique original found in Pompeii in 1862 and now in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Mid brown bronze with hints and remnants of an original gilt finish which has left it with a beautiful patina. Standing on a typical Neapolitan design circular socle base. Naples, circa 1890.
