Rare Georgian Presentation sword by Prosser. Brass mounted fish skin covered wooden scabbard. Locket with a cartouche stamped 'Prosser (Late Cullum) Sword Cutler to the King & H.R.H. The Duke of York Charing Cross'. 78cm curved single edge blade decorated with stands of arms, pre 1801 Royal arms, a figure of Britannia, classical figure, laurels and swags. Panel etched with the presentation of 'The Gift of the Second Troop of the Attorney's Cavalry to Christopher Abbott Esq. Their Captain as a Mark of their Respect and Esteem'. Blade shows signs of use with nicks and pitting to the lower end. Very rare sword ornate gilt bronze hilt in the style of a Lloyds' Patriotic Presentation sword with a lictors bundle crosspiece, eagle with a thunderbolt and wire bound leather grip. A remarkable sword that was certainly used on campaign and as such a witness to history. London, circa 1800.
