CA0597 Grand Tour Alabaster Arrotino on a plinth
Fine example of a 19th century Grand Tour white alabaster statue of Arrotino, the Blade Sharpener, after the antique. Presented on a beautiful classical reeded plinth. The original is thought to be a figure from a Hellenistic-Roman group representing the Flaying of Marsyas and is now on display in the Tribuna of the Uffizi in Florence. Nicely carved and in very good condition. Italian, circa 1890.
