CA0608 French Empire triumph of love and peace over war clock
Very fine early 19th century French Empire period ormolu gilt bronze allegorical mantel clock. Beautifully cast figure of Cupid with his bow regarding a bonfire of trophies of war, probably signifying the triumph of love and peace over war. White enamel face signed 'à Paris' with fine delicate blue steel Breguet hands. Eight day silk suspension movement. Paris, circa 1810.
