Superb pair of 19th Century, ‘Retour d’Egypte or Goute d’Egypte’ Empire chenets, andirons or firedogs. Rare and very decorative figural depictions of seated Egyptian Pharaohs after the antique. An identical pair of these fire dogs sold at Sotheby’s London 12th June 1992 p262, lot 397. Another pair sold at Christie’s London 14th June 1990 p16, lot 17. Circa 1825.
