CA0641 Small Grand Tour Bronze model of the Temple of Hercules Victor
Nice example of a Grand Tour beautifully patinated bronze model of the Temple of Hercules Victor in the Piazza Bocca della Verita on the banks of the Tiber. The temple was a must see favourite of the Grand Tour. it was original thought to be a Temple of Vesta throughout the 19th Century because of its round design and if often referrenced as such. These models are believed to have been intended for use as inkwells because of the removable roof section. Rome, Italy, circa 1870.
