CA0659 Very Rare Grand Tour Serpentine marble oil lamp

Very rare, unusual and fine 19th century Grand Tour oil lamp, after the antique Roman originals. Beautifully carved in Monteferrato Serpentine marble with a superbly carved horse's head handle, a sacred bull to the front and two oil spouts with intricate classical relief designs standing on a base with paw feet. In the manner of Benedetto Boschetti. Some minor old repairs. Italy, circa 1830.
