Grand Tour Neapolitan Bronze of the Venus Callipyge signed Sommer
A rare late 19th Century Grand Tour Neapolitan patinated bronze of the Venus Callipyge by Giorgio Sommer (1834-1914), after the original statue in National Archeological Museum of Naples. An ancient erotic bronze, the name 'Venus Callipyge' literally translates as Venus of the beautiful buttocks. This beautifully modelled and cast bronze stands on a typical Neapolitan round bronze base signed G. Sommer - NAPOLI. Italy, circa 1880.
