Beautiful and decorative 19th Century French gilt bronze Louis XVI style oil lamp after a model by Simon-Louis Boizot featuring the figure of L'Etude in classical dress seated reading from an open book upon an antique oil lamp lit by a flaming final on the spout. Gadrooned lower body on a socle base with typical period chased designs. Drilled to base for electricity and refilled.
