CA0338 Rare Pair of Empire style Retour d'Egypte centrepieces
Stunning pair of late 19th Century French Empire 'Retour d'Egypte' style gilt and black cold painted bronze compote centrepieces, or surtout de table, in the manner of Georges Emile Henri Servant. The hand blown art glass spun spiral frilled bowls are replacements but date from the same period. These are supported by three Egyptian figurines sitting on a drum base with a central floral pinecone finial and typical empire design mounts, raised on three lion paw feet. Both are in excellent condition with no obvious repairs and only slight restoration to the cold painted black sections. These would look fabulous in any interior and it is very rare to find a pair. French, circa 1880.
