CA0706 Grand Tour Giallo Antico model of the Tomb of Scipio

Interesting early 20th Century Grand Tour Giallo Antico marble model of the Tomb of Scipio after the original in the Vatican Museums in Rome. Unlike the earlier examples this is a model and not an inkwell or desk tidy. Unusually the dedication to the lid and front is carved and painted in the correct typographic style, to match the original, unlike the more classical earlier versions. Fascinating example of a must have Grand Tour item presented on a black marble base. Rome, circa 1910.
