Rare Grand Tour Neapolitan bronze of The Runner Boy
Good quality 19th Century Neapolitan Grand Tour patinated bronze of a Boy Runner after the Roman originals in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. A rare larger size model with a rich dark patination. The original Boy Runner was one of a pair of identical life size bronzes found in the 1750s in the garden of the Villa dei Paperi, Herculaneum, buried by the eruption of Vesuvius. Lovely example of a rare piece. Italy, circa 1880.
