Grand Tour white marble relief portrait plaques of Caligula and Nero
Fascinating pair of 19th Century Grand Tour white marble relief portrait plaques of what seems to be the two maddest and baddest Roman emperors: Caligula and a youthful Nero. Interesting pairing. Nicely carved with a self frame. Hanging holes for nails in the wall to reverse. Italy, probably Rome, circa 1880.
