Grand Tour Rosso Antico marble Flaminio Obelisk
Good quality rare 19th Century Grand Tour Marmo Rosso Antico model of the Flaminio Obelisk in Rome. The Flaminio Solarium Augusti Obelisk was bought from Heliopolis and erected by the Emperor Augustus along with the Obelisk of Montecitorio in 10BC and used as a sundial. It can now be seen in the Piazza del Popolo. All four faces etched with hieroglyphs and dedication in gold text 'OBELISCVS FLAMINIVS' to the front. Rome, Italy, circa 1880.
