Small Grand Tour bronze and marble souvenir of faun with wineskin
Small 19th Century Grand Tour patinated cabinet bronze of a young satyr or faun with a wineskin, after the antique original found at the House of the Centenary in Pompeii and very similar to the statue found at Herculaneum in the House of Stags. Often incorrectly described as Ganymede pouring wine for the gods. Nice 'archaeological verdigris Pompean' patination and mounted on a block of green marble base. Italian, circa 1890.
