CA0810 Late 19th Century Renaissance Style Triton Candlesticks
Interesting pair of late 19th Century small patinated bronze Italian Renaissance style figural candlesticks or chambersticks in the form of young Tritons on marine bases with turtle feet. Very much in the manner of the fountains of Rome and probably based on the Fountain of the Tritons by Carlo Francesco Bizzaccheri in the Piazza Bocca della Verità in front of the Temples of Hercules Victor and Portunus. Possibly inspired by candlesticks by Leone Leoni. Beautifully modelled, cast and chased Grand Tour candlesticks. Italy, circa 1890.
