Neoclassical Gilt Bronze Centaur
Interesting late 19th or possibly early 20th Century neoclassical gilt bronze model depicting a rearing centaur clothed in a lions pelt with a spear. Possibly part of a group depicting the classical myth of Nessus and Deianira. Nicely detailed casting with a lovely almost 18th Century feel to the gilt bronze whilst the design of the spear has a distinctly early 20th Century look. Mounted on a later grey and white marble block base. A beautiful enigma.
