Grand Tour Temple of Hercules Victor on a Giallo Antico
A lovely example of a 19th Century Grand Tour patinated bronze architectual model of The Temple of Hercules Victor (Vesta) in Rome. Nicley detailed example presented on a circular Giallo Antico marble base. Located in the Piazza Bocca della Verita on the banks of the Tiber and a favourite of the Grand Tour it was thought to be a Temple of Vesta throughout the 19th Century because of it's round design. These models are believed to have been intended for use as inkwells because of the removable roof section. Rome, Italy, circa 1880.
