CA1050 French Empire Miniature Robinson Cruseo Clock with Music Box
Rare French Empire miniature tmepiece clock depicting Daniel Defoe’s ‘Robinson Crusoe’. Dressed in goatskin, he carries a rifle and palm umbrella with a palm tree and a parrot. Case stamped ‘Alibert à Paris’. Although a french clock the movement has been replaced, possibly shortly after it was sold in England, with a fine fussee watch movement signed Samuel & Robert Atkins London, circa 1800. Silvered face with English hands. Stands on a mahogany music box base with replacement late 19th Century movement and contains remains of original Alibert Label. Circa 1815.
