Grand Tour Column of Marcus Aurelius in Giallo Antico Marble

Italian 19th Century Grand Tour Giallo Antico Marble model of the Column of Marcus Aurelius surmounted with a gilt bronze model of the Emperor. The original is situated in the Piazza Colonna in Rome. The incised spiral relief on the central column portrays Marcus Aurelius's Danubian campaigns of 166-180AD. Stepped pedestal with incised and painted dedication, on a black marble base. Finely carved, good quality example. Rome, circa 1870.
