Early 19thC French Empire Clock of Hermes Tying his Talaria
Good example of an early 19th Century French Empire gilt and pantinated bronze clock depicting Hermes, the son of Zeus and messenger of the gods, tying his talaria (winged sandals). He has placed his caduceus on the rocky ground at his side. Signed on the face Mignolet à Paris. Eight day adapted movement by Honoré Pons and dated 1823. Circa 1825.
