Grand Tour Laocoön Fragment in Alabaster
Rare late 19th century Grand Tour alabaster fragment of one of the most famous statues of antiquity, the Laocoön. Nicely carved section retaining the complete central figure. The original was excavated in Rome in 1506 and placed on public display in the Octagonal Court in the Vatican in Rome where it can be seen to this day. Circa 1870.
