Grand Tour model of the Neapolitan Fisherman Fountain
Fine and complete 19th century Grand Tour Neapolitan patinated bronze figural model of a fisherman. Referred to as 'The Neapolitan Fisherman' the original Roman bronze fountain head was first excavated at Pompeii in the Casa della Fontana Piccolo (House of the Little Fountain) in 1823. The original can now be seen in the Archeological Museum in Naples. A finely cast and chased version with the rarely seen original pail and fishing rod. Naples, Italy, circa 1850.
