French Cupid and Psyche Mantel Clock after Canova

A beautiful late 19th Century French mantel clock surmounted by a copy of the famous sculpture of 'Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss' after Antonio Canova in the Louvre in Paris. Bronze patinated metal on a Siena marble base. Enamel dial with exquisitely painted floral swags, signed 'Frot Soissons'. Frot, originally based in Paris moved to Soissons around 1890. Purchased this from the grandson of the original owner who still lives in Soissons to this day. France circa 1890.
