CA1032 Grand Tour Bronze of the Dying Gaul

Fine quality large 19th Century Italian Grand Tour patinated bronze sculpture of The Dying Gaul on a rouge levanto and black marble base, after the antique. Sometimes referred to as The Dying Galatian or The Dying Gladiator, the original on display in the Capitoline Museum in Rome is an ancient Roman copy of a lost Hellenistic statue. This statue was always a highlight of The Grand Tour.
