CA1194 Napoleonic Light Cavalry Senior Officer's sabre with scabbard
Superb Consulat or early Empire period Light Cavalry ‘Sabre a l’Allemande’ Officer Campaign Sword. Elegant, light and beautifully balanced sword with a lovely fluted mellow ivory grip. Beautifully engraved Empire designs to front of scabbard. Scabbard is in excellent condition with only one tiny dink to reverse from field use. Blade stained with some light pitting near the tip; typical empire engraved designs to blade; spine engraved ‘Pierre Guillaume Knecht fabriquant à Solingen’, one of the great sword makers of his generation. This sword would have been used on campaign and a witness to history. Circa 1805.
