Pair of French Empire Retour d'Egypte Caryatid Candlesticks

A pair of French Empire 'Retour d'Egypte' gilt bronze ormolu candlesticks in the manner of Claude Galle (1757-1815). Presented in two subtle gilt bronze tones. Circular bases decorated with classic empire stylised palmettes. Caryatid style footed tapered stem surmounted by three Egyptian busts and candle cups decorated with more palmettes, very much in the manner of Glaude Galle. France, early 19th century.
