CA0967 French Empire Clock of Psyche loading Cupid's quiver
An attractive early 19th century French Empire period gilt bronze ormolu mantel clock surmounted by a figure of Psyche filling cupids quiver with arrows whilst he sleeps below. Beautifully cast and chased mounts, fire gilt bronze with delightfully playful feet as swans. Psyche is dressed in flowing typical empire style dress and headdress 'a la mode'. White enamel face, eight day silk suspension movement. France, circa 1810.
