CA1019 Fine French Empire Period Cupid Clock
Stunning example of a fine early 19th century French Empire period gilt and patinated bronze ormolu mantel clock, surmounted by model of Cupid peeping out from under a Napoleonic Dragoon's helmet resting on a period style day bed. The eight day silk suspension movement is housed in the helmet, the white enamel dial signed 'Gaulin à Paris' for Antoine Gaulin who is recorded as working out of Quai de la Megiisserie between 1789 - 1830. Beautiful intricate hands. The perfect example of all things French Empire combined. Circa 1810.
