Fine and rare pair of early 19th century French Empire patinated bronze group statues mounted on Rouge Griotte marble plinths with patinated bronze bases. Both bronzes are based on paintings of classical lovers: Psyche Receiving Cupid's First Kiss (1798) by François Gérard and Daphnis and Chloé (1817) by Louis Hersent. A classic pairing designed to sit either side of your mantel shelf or commode. Super quality castings. France, circa 1820.
