Large Bronze of Virgil by Carrier-Belleuse

Superb quality late 19th century Neo-Grec large French patinated bronze of the seated Virgil, signed 'A. Carrier' for Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887), one of the founding members of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and tutor to Rodin. He was prolific sculptor with his works displayed in the Louvre and Tuilleries. Napoleon iii period, circa 1870.
