CA1052 Rare Paperweight by Thomas Weeks

Very Rare, stunning late 18th / early 19th century George III, classically inspired paperweight by the eminent clock maker Thomas Weeks (1743 -1834) of Tichborne Street, London. Signed along edge: WEEKS.S. TICHBORNE STRT. Gilt bronze ormolu winged cupid holding a circular tablet astride a classically draped patinated bronze lion on a white marble base. Famous for its objet d'art, clocks and automatons, Thomas Weeks museum in Tichborne Street was the pinacle of fine English craftsmanship.
