CA1056 French Directoire Bisque Genre Clock
Fine and rare late 18th / early 19th Century French Directoire period bisque porcelain genre clock, the case depicting a classically robed seated woman giving alms in the form of bread to a child. The central figure seated on a classical klismos chair atop a fountain with stallions heads. The movement is signed 'Carcel Paris' on the backplate probably for Bernard-Guillaume Carcel (1750 - 1812). Ormolu mounts, repairs.
