CA0996 Rare French Empire Centaur Nessus and Deianira Clock

Very rare fine quality early 19th Century French Consulat / Empire gilt and patinated bronze clock depicting the Centaur Nessus abducting Deianira, wife of Hercules, from the classical myth of ‘the Tunic of Nessus’. Circa 1800. Eight day silk suspension movement, porcelain face signed ‘Edouard Berthet’.
