CA1071 Small Grand Tour Marble Model of the Tomb of Scipio
A fine and rare example of a small early 19th century Grand Tour Siena Marble model of the Tomb of Scipio, after the original now housed in the Vatican Museums in Rome. Hand painted dedication to the front and a removable lid to expose a single compartment, possibly used as a travelling or campaign desk tidy or inkwell. Siena marble on a black marble base. Circa 1820.
