Grand Tour Seated Hermes Bronze
Good size late 19th Century Neapolitan Grand Tour patinated cabinet bronze of the Seated Hermes, after the antique original found at the Villa of the Papyri in Herculaneum in 1758. This statue was probably the most celebrated work of art discovered at Herculaneum and Pompeii in the eighteenth century and now can be seen in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Italian, circa 1860.
