CA1088 French 18th Century Retour d'Egypte Box Clock

Fascinating and historically interesting large scale late 18th Century French 'Retour d'Egypte' collaborative box clock by Pierre Le Roy with a movement by Vincent De Lorme. Pierre Le Roy retailed clocks as well as make them and there are a couple of years when Le Roy's and De Lorme's active timelines overlap, but most likely this was a commission: modernising, updating and repositioning an earlier movement by De Lorme to reflect the latest taste. Mahogany box with early gilt bronze sphinxes. Movement signed by De Lorme à Paris. Dial signed "Pre. Le Roys à Paris'.
